The Cave Tafkos Giomatas is located near the village of Agia, province Mylopotamos, in the Talean Mountains at position Giomatas. It is one of the most beautiful caves in the prefecture of Rethymnon and was first explored by the Speleological Club of Crete (SPOK) in 2003. The decoration consists of imposing curtains, stalagmites, stalactites and columns.
It is accessible only to people with specialized caving knowledge, as access to the interior requires a downhill course about 11 meters from the entrance with rope. The first room has a relatively poor decoration, and from there a narrow passage leads us to the central hall with the impressive cave decor From there, narrow passages lead to a third room. The total explored route in the cave is about 550m long.
