The short-horned cow of the Cretan breed today has many cows mainly in the Drakona area of the White Mountains and until recently was considered almost extinct.

At only 1.20m tall, these small cows can reach much more difficult places than the common breeds that are used en masse today. Thus their adaptation to the rugged mountains of Crete is remarkable.
