Just outside the village Zhou in province Sitia in 1955-1956 a large Minoan agrepavlis (rural mansion) was revealed by the archaeological team of Nikolaos Platon. The mansion consisted of many rooms, such resting rooms, workshops, living rooms, furnace, etc. Part of the site has been destroyed by the works for constructing the road. The building was two storey and is dated back from the 2000BC -1600BC. Near it, a cave has been found that was used as a grave.
