Opposite the great Koules of Heraklion (Rocca al Mare), which still dominates the entrance to the Venetian port of Heraklion, the Turks founded a smaller defensive tower. It was the only fortification work that the Turks added to the harbor area throughout the period of their domination on the island.
Today, there is nothing left of it as the small Koules was demolished in 1936 after the disastrous decision of the Port Authorities. It was located just next to the area occupied today by the Central Port of Heraklion.
