The church of Panagia in Psychro, province Ierapetra, is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (August 15th) and is recorded to the Venetian census of monasteries and temples of the 17th century. It belongs to the parish of the village of Agios Ioannis and there is a big feast taking place here annualy.
It is a small, single nave, arched temple in the piney forest of Psychro, very close to the springs of Saint George. Next to the church there is an old watermill and a spring with cool water.
From time to time it has been repaired, while the window and the icon screen have been replaced by newer ones. Probably the temple was reconstructed in the late 19th century.
