The Musical Workshop Labyrinth was founded in 1982 by Ross Daly and since 2002 it is housed in a scenic old building in Houdetsi village.
The archaeological site of Trypitos is located on a small peninsula, 3km east of Sitia, near the beach Karavopetra, which has stunning view to Sitia city. It is considered to be the ancient city of Sitia, Itia, which was originally the port of Praesus. The city flourished in the Hellenistic period (350BC-50BC).
The Folklore Museum of Sitia was founded in 1975 and is housed in a beautiful neo-classical house. The collection refers to the town of Sitia in the second half of the 19th and early 20th century.
The Folk Museum of Spili is housed since 2011 in a traditional two-storey house at Spili and was founded by the local Women's Association.
Chrysokamino is located near the Cave Theriospilios in the area of Kavousi, Ierapetra province. At the site that locals called Golden Oven (chrysokamino), because they frequently found copper pieces, in 1900 the archaeologist H. Boyd spotted a metallurgy workshop that operated from 4500-3500 BC to the Minoan Era. The most important study and excavations since then took place after 1995.
At (E)llinoperamata of Heraklion and at a short distance from the beach of Ammoudara, you will find the stone steep hill of Kastrokefala. The pyramid-shaped hill raises to an altitude of 355 meters from the sea level and has breathtaking views of the sea, the settlement of Rogdia, the once sacred pyramid mountain of Stroumboulas and the fertile plains of Heraklion.
At position Riza, close to Achladia village N. Platon revealed in 1952 a Minoan Rural Mansion (1600-1550BC). The building occupies an area of 270 sqm and consists of 12 apartments with a main entrance on the east, an entrance hall, kitchen, storerooms and (possibly) a stall.
Close to the scenic village of St. Thomas (Agios Thomas) in Heraklion there are the ruins of one of the largest fortification works in the Cretan inland. Atop of a high hill overlooking the valleys of the Prophet Elijah and Venerato, you will find the ruins of Melissa fortress build during the 2nd Byzantine Era (11th- 12th century).
