The dam of the Chalavrianos River is located in the rural area of Halavra in the district of Pano Archanes, south of mount Giouchtas, between the villages Houdetsi and Profitis Ilias. The Chalavrianos torrent, which feeds this artificial lake, is a tributary of the River Giofyros.
The lake was built in 2017 and has a capacity of about one million cubic meters. The water supplies the crops of the wider area, as well as the small town of Archanes.
The area is approached by a rural road from Vathipetro and is frequently damaged due to the loose grounds. On the way to the lake we come across two other small artificial ponds. From this point, the view to the lake, Giouchtas mount, the Rokka fortress above Profitis Ilias and Psiloritis Range in the background.
