South of Ano Moulia, at a rural location full of olive trees, there is the church of Saint Theodore the Sanctified. Saint Theodore the Sanctified celebrates on 16 May. This is an extremely rare Saint and this church is the only one in Crete honored in his name. Throughout the Greek area there is a second temple in Ithaca. St. Theodore in Ano Moulia is a very old church that is at least five centuries old, as it was built during the Venetian rule.
There are some traces of frescoes surviving. The church is small, single-naved and with a very simple wooden iconostasis (icon shrine). The area around is full of pottery fragments and carved stones from ancient buildings, indicating the existence of an ancient settlement that existed in the region.
