The church of Saint George (Agios Georgios) is located near the center of the village Messelleri in the province of Ierapetra. Its fresco decoration dates back from about 1300AD and is partially preserved.
The eastern part of the arch hosts the great depiction of the Ascension, while the west hosts a few depictions of the Passion of Christ, as well as three depictions of the life of Saint George. On the north wall, apart from individual saints, such as the monks Ephrem the Syrian and Euthymius, we see the highly detailed representation of the Second Coming with Christ as Judge, the Twelve Apostles and the Dance of the Angels in the upper part, as well as the depiction of hell in the lower part of the wall. We can also discern are kings and hierarchs, among the sinners, as recognized by their clothes.
