The church of Agios Nikolaos is located in a centre of the village Malles in the province of Ierapetra and at first glance one thinks that it is a modern temple. However, the church dates back to the Venetian period but has undergone extensive restoration works, both externally and internally.
The church of Panagia in village Platania, Amari province, is located in the center of the village and is a single-room vaulted temple with a semi-cylindrical arch. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and celebrates on the 15th of August.
The church of Agia Paraskevi is located southeast of the village Argoules, above the small stream that ends on the beautiful beach of Agia Marina. It is a small single - nave, arched temple that has undergone a draft and inappropriate restoration with cement, as the southern wall had collapsed and its murals were in danger.
Just south of the village Tsourouniana of province Kissamo we meet the ruined church of Christ. The area is called Katalimata (Lodges) as indeed in this area there are remains of an ancient settlement with piles of stones and shells of ancient ceramic vases scattered around. In Katalimata there is also the deserted and destroyed today church of St. Demetrius. The church of Christ is a small, single-aisled vaulted church which should be built in the Venetian period.
South of the village Malles in the province of Ierapetra lies the deserted village of Loutra, where the imposing church of Agios Georgios still dominates the place with a large cypress tree next to it. Because of its size, it is believed to have been the seat of the Diocese of Iera, like the nearby church of Panagia at Armos.
The simple temple of Saint John the Baptist is located at the small plateau of Aloida, in the region of Mesa Lassithi, at an altitude of 1140 meters in the Dikti mountain range. At that point, next to a spring with fresh water, the chieftain Kapetan Kazanis and his men found shelter after 1821, from where they roamed against the Ottomans.
The temple of Saint Anthony (Agios Antonios) is located on the eastern side of the peninsula Rodopou. Here leads a bad dirt road that runs through the plateau of Agios Nikolaos. Around the temple there are ruins of monk cells, apparently belonging to a monastery that operated here with the church of Saint Anthony.
The temple of Savior Christ is located at Akoumia of Agios Vasilios and is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior (celebr. 6 August). The original single-nave church dates back to the 13th century and was later extended to the west, and now it is at a lower level than the ground. Inside there are frescoes of the 14th century, among which we can see the church's founders.
