Leprias or Lepries is a small pebbly beach located at Kalokambos area, about 73km south of Heraklion city, amidst the wild and majestic landscape of Asterousia Range, southwest of the summit of Kofinas. The beach area can be accessed after hiking in the trail leading to Agios Ioannis from the beach of Tripiti. The beach is formed in front of a steep dirt slope, which crumbles and collapses like the leper's skin, therefore it is called Leprias, after the Greek word for leper.
In order to descend to the beach from the trail, it's safer to walk down from the west end of the bay. The east part of the beach forms some amazing caves, offering shade all day long. Between Leprias and Tripiti, you'll meet more nice beaches of Kalokambos, with rocky bottom, preferred by local fishermen.
