Gela (or Tigania) is located at a rocky and pebbly coast of north Crete, quite protected by westerly winds. It is located around 58km east of Agios Nikolaos and 26km west of Sitia, close to village Kalavros. You can reach Gela from Agios Nikolaos by getting the road to Sitia and following the exit to Kalavros village. From there follow the 5km dirt track leading to the sea, till you meet the shore of Gela. The area is absolutely secluded and you'll find several small coves with pebbles and greenish waters, ideal for swimming (on waveless days). The bays are formed near the rocky and steep coasts and the sea is deep.
The area is ideal for fishing and snorkeling, but also for seclusion. It is almost sure that you'll hardly meet anyone else here.
