The bridge of Simas in Prasses, Rethymnon is the highest stone-built bridge in Crete and is a construction miracle for the time it was built. It is located on the south side of Vrysinas Mount, on the road that connects Rethymnon with the area of the Amari dam, bridging the two rocky sides of the wild Kaminolakos gorge.
The bridge of Simas was completed after 1912, although it was auctioned in 1910, after many years of planning the road connection between Rethymno and Amari province. The Simas bridge has three equal arches, built on very high plinths.
