The Minoan settlement located near the village Nerokouros in the suburbs of Chania was excavated in 1977. At this point a Minoan villa was built on palatial standards (such as tiled floors, polythyron, two floors). The villa is dated back from about 1600 BC.
A second, less impressive house was found 300 meters to the east, with two storage rooms and a tiled floor. In addition to the Minoan sites, other antiquities have been excavated in the wider area of Nerokouros, covering the period from the Minoan to the Early Christian years.
