Kolimvari
The Museum of Maritime Heritage and Tradition of Fishing (Fisheries Museum) started as an idea in 2000 and the work was completed in 2001. It started its journey as a permanent exhibition in August 2005 and since then it travels with those who wish to learn through the exhibits and collections about a separate piece of Greek cultural heritage.
It is housed in a modern building in Kolimvari, which has a good tradition in the fishing sector. The visitor can see traditional fishing vessels, ancient anchors, spears, harpoons, and other tools of the fishermen and a rich collection of fishes, shells, corals, sponges, urchins and other marine organisms.
The Museum's aim is to keep alive the memory of the fishing tradition and bring out the richness of Greek seabed. At the same time, by organizing various events and activities (such as exhibitions, lectures, etc.) in the multipurpose room and the outdoor stone amphitheater it offers education and entertainment.
