The peak of Vigla is located at an altitude of 907 meters and is one of the lowest peaks of the mountain range of Psiloritis. it is located just above the village of Ano Loutraki of Malevyzi province. Despite its low altitude, it has very steep slopes and rises abruptly above the village and the tallest of the two peaks is a quite sharp limestone ridge. The extremely uphill climbing starts from Ano Loutraki, along a dirt road that crosses vineyards and two chapels, before climbing up to the slope of the mountain.
Then we follow a path on the steep rocky slope with a few oaks and cypress trees breaking the monotony of the stone. The place offers breathtaking views to Heraklion and the province of Malevizi. On the top there is a small plateau with the ruins of an old mitato (primitive stone built creamery).
