The small Kallikratis Plateau lies on the east White Mountains, where the village of Kallikratis, province Sfakia, is built. The almost deserted village is now mainly inhabited by some Sfakian herders, who keep their goats and sheep in the surrounding mountains. In recent years some taverns with authentic Cretan cuisine have popped up. You can reach Kallikratis from three places; via an impressive snake-like asphalt road going up from Patsianos near Fragokastelo and from the road that connects Askifou with Asi Gonia.
From here starts the impressive gorge of Kalikratis that ends at the village Patsianos. At position Ano Rouga of the village Kallikratis we meet the two-aisled church of the Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael, built in the 19th century. The belfry of 1893 is very interesting and the sundial embedded on the wall.
