The plateau Manikas is located at the province of Sfakia, at an altitude of 720 meters, between the peaks of Agrimokefala (957m), Papoura (1085m) and Kryoneritis (1261m). Today, the settlement Manikas, after which it gets its name, has been abandoned and is only used by shepherds.
The plateau hosts the beautiful stone-built church dedicated to Saint Manolis (celebr. August 21). Manikas is the starting point of the beautiful, but steep gorge Skaloti.
The plateau can be accessed via a long dirt track that connects Skaloti village with the central road that connects Kallikratis with Asi Gonia.
