Within walking distance from the archaeological site of Vrondas, at position Xerambela, there is the old monastery of Saint Paraskevi (Agia Paraskevi) above the spring Vrissi. One can still discern the ruins of the monk cells and a very old olive tree next to the temple.
The exterior of the chapel hosts an arcosolium, a Venetian grave, indicating that the temple was built during the Venetian rule. Around the monastery, there is the easternmost colony of cypress trees in Crete.
