The Boutakas River is located in the province of Apokoronas in Chania, which originates from the White Mountains near Vafes village. It passes through the village of Vrysses, where there are many beautiful taverns, and flows into the beautiful beach of Kalyvaki in Georgioupolis, after being mixed with saltwater. Boutakas hosts two very important bridges, the ancient Elliniki Kamara (Greek Arch) and the bridge of Koutsos.
Water flows on the beach all year round. On a map of the Venetian era it is called Camara River, apparently because of a bridge near the beach. In Georgioupolis, there are also the rivers Almyros, Perastikos, Delfinas, Mouselas. Delfinas moves the overflowing waters of Lake Kournas.
