Agritourism units and specialized tourist agencies offer seminars for gathering herbs, snails, mushrooms, and truffles in the countryside. Similarly, they organize tours for acquainting visitors with traditional rural occupations, such as the cultivation of olive or vine, production of honey and more.

Trail E4 Agouseliana - Koxare - Spili

This trail starts from Agouseliana, comes north of the villages Katsogrida and Atsipades, passes through Koxare, meets the upper entrance of Kourtaliotiko Gorge, crosses Mixorouma and Dariviana, and stops at Spili. It is very easy, as it is mostly on paved and unpaved roads.

Trail Agios Georgios - Agia Pelagia - Katharo

From Agios Georgios, the E4 European trail heads to the east, till the chapel of Agia Pelagia. From there we start ascending to Timios Stavros chapel (Holy Cross) and reach Katharo Plateau. This route can be combined with the parallel E4 part Agios Georgios - Havgas - Katharo and be circular.

Trail Nida - Timios Stavros - Toumbotos Prinos

This is one of the most popular and well signed parts of the E4 European Trail, ascending to the highest peak of Crete, Timios Stavros (2456m). The course offers amazing views to almost entire island, as in clear days, we can see even Gavdos island. We usually meet snow from early winter months to early summer.

Trail Garazo - Zoniana - Anogia

This part of the European trail E4 starts from Garazo and reaches Zoniana through the bed of the river Oaxis, which is the extension of Zoniana gorge. It then ends at Anogia through the paved road. Most of the route meets the typical Cretan landscape, with olive groves, limestone rocks and low vegetation.

Trail Paranimfi - Tris Ekklisies

Asterousia Mountains are characterized by the wildness and the eerie landscapes causing awe to anyone attempting to discover them. A trail that offers countless emotions is the ancient path that connects the village Paranimfi to Tris Ekklisies and runs on the edge of the cliff.

Trail Houmeri - Garazo

From Houmeri, the European E4 path reaches Garazo, after coming through the villages Agios Syllas and Dafnedes. The path offers good views to the lush olive groves of Milopotamos province, the river of Geropotamos and the nice square of Garazo. However, the most striking highlight is the abandoned mill-house of Mousses.

Trail Katharo Plateau - Selakano

This small part of the European E4 trail connects the plateau of Katharo to the beautiful forest of Selakano. The route is mainly through dirt road and is ideal for cycling. From the settlement of Katharo we follow the dirt road to Selakano. The last part of the route, after entering the amazing pine wood of Selakano is the highlight of the course.

Gorge Kinigospilios

At the small and almost deserted village Chordaki, district of Amari, we meet the small but very beautiful canyon of Kynigospilios south of the village. It is a secret place, not visible from anywhere and this is the main reason that remains it unknown. The canyon Kynigospilios has enough water flow during the winter months till the end of spring, which comes from the slopes of Mount Kedros.
