The longest beach at islet Koufonissi or Lefki lies at the southeast part of the islet, opposite Africa. Amazing clean water, rocky seabed ideal for snorkeling, and smooth sand; the only problem is the lack of shade. If you climb the quite steep sandy slopes of the beach, you will see the ruins of the old lighthouse of Koufonissi, built on an ancient temple.
The name prosfora comes after the round rock opposite the beach, which locals tell reminds of a prosphora, the small loaf of leavened bread used in Orthodox Christian liturgies.
