The west side of the island of Gavdos forms many steep cliffs and the view from atop is magic. Due to the steep terrain, it forms several landslides and the whole area is called Aspes (i.e. landslides). At the base of the cliffs of Aspes small beaches are formed, mainly rocky, but access is only possible by boat.
The beach that stands out from all of the west side is Lefko Tsouni, widely known as Diana. Diana is actually the second southernmost beach in Europe, following Tripiti located a few meters to the southeast. The beach stands out from the rest as it is less rocky, has small pebbles, and has a massive rock below which you can find shade all day.
The beach got its name after Princess Diana who visited the place with Dodi Al-Fayed several years ago.
