Korfos (i.e. Bosom) is located approximately 2km south of Karave, the only port in Gavdos. There is a footpath along the coast from Karave that leads to the settlement of Korfos (60'). However, most visitors prefer catching the bus running to Korfos from Karave. The beach is formed in the "bosom" of a long bay, where there are a few rooms and taverns. It has beautiful pebbles and sand, is a perfect destination for peaceful family vacations, close to the very basic amenities.
Near Korfos is the chapel of St. George, with a spring nearby. Moroever, findings of the Late Minoan period have been found south of the beach, indicating that Korfos was inhabited since that period (1600-1100BC).
