This part of the European trail E4 starts from Sfinari and ends at Chrissoskalitissa. It is one of the most beautiful and wooded parts of Crete with astonishing seascape views. The route runs mainly along the main street of West Crete coast, thus if you don't have many days in Crete, it is recommended to enjoy that by a car and hike in the harder routes of E4.
First we pass through the desolated village Ano Sfinari, then we cross the area with views to Kambos gorge. After one hour we meet the village Kambos, then Plagia and then Keramoti. Continuing we pass the settlements Amigdhalokefali, Simantiriana, Papadiana and Kefali with the amazing frescoed churches. From Kefali comes another road that descends through the green valley of Vathy, passes through Plokamiana till the rocky beach of Stomio. After more 3 km we reach the village of Chrissoskalitissa, named after the beautiful monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Panagia) and being built on a rock with panoramic views to the sea.
