In the area of Podares between Fodele and Marathos and within walking distance of the monastery of Agios Panteleimonas, a stream merges with the main river of Santorinios. Along the way, this stream, like many others in the area, forms some waterfalls in winter. The most easily accessible fall is located on the dirt road leading to Santorinios and forms a small 4m natural slide with a small pond at its base.

West of the village Tylisos in Malevizi province rises the mount Pirgos with its peak reaching an altitude of 684m. In this steep peak the archaeologist Stylianos Alexiou in 1963 identified one of the most important Minoan Peak Sanctuaries of Central Crete. Religious figurines and stone horns were found, and a rectangular building measuring 13m x 4.50m came to light. It can be reached by walking about 20 minutes from the nearest parking area that is reached by a rural road.

At the eastern end of the village Melambes, we meet the Byzantine church of Agia Paraskevi bearing frescoes of the 14th century, divided in two phases. The temple is built next to a spring with cool water and covered by a large plane tree; even we meet the custom that the temples next to water springs were dedicated to Saint Paraskevi, the saint patron of the eyes.
