The Folklore Museum of Polios is located in the village Asteri, 13km west of the city of Rethymno. It started its operation in 2009 and is housed in a traditional Cretan house, transformed in a cozy private museum, with passion and love of Georgios Polioudakis.
All exhibits are traditional and come from the houses and mansions of the surrounding area. It includes a traditional corner of the living room with the fireplace and the chair with one hand (the other should be free to hold guns), a dining room, a kitchen with all its utensils, a corner with traditional looms, the bedroom with a traditional carved crib and children's toys.
There is also an exterior room with tools from traditional occupations, such as farmer, farrier, shoe maker, carpenter, mason, and others.
