Adelianos Kambos (or Adele beach) is located 6km east of Rethymnon, on a flat plain used in the past for growing vegetables by the residents of the nearby village Adele. It is actually a seaside suburb of Rethymnon, as the small village has developed so much in the last century, that it is now a part of the city. Adelianos Kambos can be accessed very easily by local buses running from the city center.
In front of Adelianos Kambos stretches the long sandy beach of Rethymno Gulf, extending to Skaleta. In Adelianos Kambos you will find large and small hotels and many options for eating, shopping and entertainment. The beach is very well organized with umbrellas, lifeguards, changing rooms, showers, bars, etc. It is very popular for water- and beach- sports. The sea here is shallow, but often wavy, like all open beaches of north Crete. Sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach, thus you might see some marked nests protected by ropes and signs.
