The coves of Paleochora in the area of Karavopetra are among the most beautiful spots that one can visit for swimming in the area of southwest Crete. The coves are very easily accessible, as the main road that connects Paleochora with Krios beach in Koundoura passes by.

Just before reaching the beautiful Grammeno we come across a series of rocky beaches. The westernmost cove formed between large boulders is called Plakaki and is a favorite destination for calm moments, as it is hidden by the rocks and well protected from the winds.

Plakaki has fine pebble and the sea bottom is suitable for snorkeling. There are a few rooms and taverns in the area, with more options on Grammenos beach.
