The small palm grove of Saint Anthony is located quite close to the Monastery of St. Nikitas, in one of the most rugged areas of Asterousia Range, Crete. It is a small oasis in the middle of nowhere, formed along a small creek watered by the springs of Kefalovrissi.
In order to visit the grove from Agios Nikitas, follow the road to the east and ascend to the small white-brushed chapel of Agios Antonios (Saint Anthony), built on an elevated position with amazing views to the South Cretan Sea. The palm grove, consisting of the endemic species of the Cretan Date Palm, is located just below the church and is fenced to protect it by the intruders.
