The most famous and most photographed beaches on the island of Crete, known for their exotic water and majestic natural environment, are the heavenly lagoons of Balos at Gramvousa peninsula and Elafonissi, which lie in the southwestern edge of the island. Between them, lies the virgin beaches of ancient Falassarna. For those looking for seclusion, there is the hidden paradise of Kedrodasos and White Lake near Elafonissi and the African seascapes of Agiannis and Lavrakas on Gavdos island.

The main beach of Nea Chora is very well organized, with several amenities nearby. It is a nice sandy beach, with rocks in some places. Nea Chora is ideal for those that do not want to leave the city centre.
The beach can be mainly accessed by boat, as it is hard to find the beach in the complicated dirt road network of the area. The beach is surrounded by low vegetation.
The beach of Agios Antonios (Saint Anthony) is located in a quiet bay, 2.5km east of Sougia and 68km west of Chania, in one of the most remote places on Crete. The surrounding area is called Charéi, thus you might hear many locals calling that like this.
The beach of Lykos is quite rocky in relation to the nearby Finikas and hosts a small pier where the boats stop, but is open to the south winds. Generally, it is not something special as a beach, but absolute tranquility and rich seabed make exploring this isolated place a nice experience.
2km east of Nopigia we meet the rocky coast of Choni. In order to access it, you have to follow the seaside road from Nopigia to the East. After the little square theater of the Orthodox Academy, follow the dirt road leading to Choni and the church of Panagia (i.e. Santa Maria).
The beach Keratidi, or to be more accurate the two beaches of Keratidi, are located at a secluded location east of Laki, province Sfakia, and are actually the easternmost beach of south Chania prefecture.
Between Kalogeros beach and the harbor of Maschalis (the west port of Agia Roumeli) some beaches are formed in caves that the locals call them Caves in Marble. These caves are formed in the whitish hard rock of the area and constitute a unique hideout for nature lovers. They can be accessed easily either by a canoe from Agia Roumeli or even by swimming.
The beach Amoudi is located about 1.5km east of Chora Sfakion and 75km south of Chania, in an area with several adjacent pebbly beaches and very close to the nudists' hotel Vritomartis. It is one of the many unknown beaches around Chora Sfakion, and one of the nicest. The area, due to conglomerate rocks, is full of small pebbly beaches, such as Agios Charalambos, Filaki and Plakakia.
