The eastern part of Crete hides some of the nicest surprises. The exotic beaches of the islands Chrissi and Lefki can be explored by taking a sea trip on excursion boats from Ierapetra and Makrigialos. The protected palm forest at Vai and Itanos strongly reminds of an African landscape, while the secluded beaches of Karoumes and Xerokambos are a must-see for nature lovers. The dry rocky landscape changes dramatically a few miles to the west, on the serene strands formed below the slopes of Thripti range. The capital of Lassithi, Agios Nikolaos, hosts the lovely beaches of Gargadoros, Istron and Ammoudara.

In the area Ormos of the town of Agios Nikolaos and in a steep area facing the islets of Agioi Pantes and Psira, we meet the historical villa of director Nikos Koundouros (1926 - 2017).
A few meters southeast of the beautiful nudist beach of Psili Ammos in Vai, the tiny beach in cape Kefali is formed.
>Directly opposite the port of Agios Nikolaos is the islet of Agii Pantes. Approximately in the center of the island there is a unique tiny beach with sand and clear blue waters.
East of Istron Bay there is a very small cove with three remote beaches, accessed on foot via a short path. The beaches are named Vryonisi (or Prasonisi), after the small Vryonisi (or Prasonisi) islet that is formed just opposite the small bay.
A few meters north of the main port of the city of Sitia, the main road that leads to the airport passes by the Chlouverakis Park. Right next to it is the picturesque cove of Soultanina. Access is very easy either by car or on foot.
The beach Achimada is formed in a semi-circular bay with cliffs and orange rocks that are composed of many places of deposits of fossilized bivalves (shells) and take imposing forms.
